Fundraising Tips

1. Donate to yourself

Nothing shows commitment to the cause and challenge like donating to yourself. It's a great way to lead by example – if you're asking people to donate, it makes sense to donate to yourself as well! Plus, people who donate to themselves raise twice as much as those who don't.

2. Create or join a team

A challenge is more fun when you have a buddy to do it with! Create a team and invite others to join you.

3. Spread the word

Let friends, family, and colleagues know you've signed up for the challenge. Tell them over the phone, on a video call, send an email or text message, put it on Facebook or Instagram, Tweet (X) it, Snapchat it… whatever works for you (or do them all!).

You can use our list of pre-written messages, share your profile page link, or ask them to search for your name on the Hydrate for Hope website.

4. Ask more than once

We all need a little reminding every now and again... You're doing something great for yourself and for others, so don't hesitate to follow up with people and remind them to donate.

One of the easiest ways to remind people to donate is by posting more than once on your social media. Here are some examples of when you could post:

  • Once you’ve signed up
  • When you make a self-donation (ask people to match it!)
  • On October 1st when your challenge begins
  • After each week of the challenge that you complete
  • When you receive a donation (thank your donors publicly)

5. Share your why

What's the reason you decided to take part in Hydrate for Hope? Whether you’re doing it to improve your health, to support someone you know affected by breast cancer, or to raise funds for National Breast Cancer Foundation (or all of the above!), share your motivation with your friends and family to encourage donations.

6. Create your own fundraising event or competition

Get creative and set up an event or competition to help collect donations! Some ideas include:

  • Hold a bake sale
  • Hold a raffle
  • Have a fancy dress competition
  • All donations in 24 hours go into a drawing to win a small prize
  • Host a trivia night
